Pastor Chito

WIN LA FORMAL OPENING ON FEBRUARY 8, 2009!!!

Since we moved in and had our first service in January 20th of 2009 at 530 Benton Way LA CA 90057, we’ve had our Pastors’ meetings, prayer meetings, revival meetings, ministry heads meeting, ministry meetings and two Sunday Services. It was a dress rehearsal of sorts. Remember how when a supermarket opens they still have a gazillion kinks to work out so they have a soft launch before they actually formally launch.

Well we had our share of interesting things that happened. In the short period of time, God just kept providing and providing the needed furnishings which I have never experienced I must say as a pastor. The kind of stuff that’s coming in is not by any means discards. The designer tables and the genuine Italian Leather couches, big screen projector TV, Stainless Steel refrigerator, ready made curtains, beautiful throws and cushions, signage…. All signs of God’s wonderful provisions. God is SOooo GOOD!

Some of the other notable things that happened was how a particular radio frequency would infiltrate the sound system so that Mexican music plays intrusively while The Word was being shared. That was so mysterious. It almost felt like a Mariachi band would come marching into the sanctuary at any moment to play Ranchera music.

Then, as suddenly as it came, last Sunday, the sound wasn’t there anymore. It was exorcised thru prayer. This of course will be something to laugh about as we remember how it was in the beginning.

Another interesting moment was when the designated worship team from another ministry did not show up for the Friday night Revival meeting and our rag tag band somehow got together and got the job done with me playing the drums again. I only do that in extreme cases and that was one of those times! My daughter Joanna was fresh from a looong ride from Santa Barbara and we got her to sing too. Chalk that up for another interesting memory.

Oh and the parking! Why is it that Hispanic, Korean and this Filipino church all decided to converge in this location? A cacophony of Latino, Korean and Filipino music fills the air on Sunday mornings and it is just music to my ears. The only thing is you would think that The Battle of Armageddon is taking place in Lafayette Park every Sunday as we battle for precious parking. Well, interestingly, that was solved too! We decided to rent our old parking space in Wilshire and Coronado Sts. where The Hayworth is. Then it’s just a sweet 4-minute walk to the Church. Ahhh! Another problem solved.

And so, we’re beginning again. A new journey. A fresh journey. Once again, there are souls to be won and lives to be transformed.

This Sunday, February 8 will be our official inauguration. Hopefully our much-awaited chairs will finally arrive from her long journey from Chicago. And then we’ll ask the Holy Spirit to fill up every one of those chairs.

Yep! It’s gonna happen. Just you wait and see!
