How Long Lord?

1How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me? Psalm 13:1 NIV

Waiting is one of the most difficult things we are calle to do. It is especially hard to face when we seemingly need a quick answer for our woes. We want answers to come quickly don’t we? We want that job offer, that investment opportunity, that marriage proposal, that better break, etc…

Waiting is actually AN ACTIVITY that requires a lot of focus and faith. It seems that many times, God makes us wait before He grants our request or bring about the resolution to our troubles. There are many reasons for this:

1. Waiting builds patience and endurance
2. Waiting allows for time for circumstances to come together in a way hat produces His will for us.
3. Waiting also gives people time to make up their minds in order to understand an issue clearly or to deal with anger and anxiety that could lead to rash action.

By waiting upon the Lord, we move according to His timing not ours. Remember the times when we got impatient – We said things we shouldn’t have, spend money we shouldn’t, become involved in relationships or contracts that are hard to get out of. Snap judgments will cost us dearly in the long run. We will then say, “If only we had the wisdom to wait!” Waiting upon the Lord must be a virtue that every Christian should learn to possess.

God is certainly moving and active. He IS doing something all the time. Just keep abiding in Him. In His time He makes all things beautiful!
